The Community Leadership Council in Chapel Hill talked Thursday about whether the group's ongoing agenda was too "squishy," or short on specific proposals for action. It's been useful having some squishiness so far, offered Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber Director Aaron Nelson, but going forward, it may be time for the "firm tofu" rather than the really loose tofu.
Fortunately for those at the meeting, the catered breakfast from Breadmen's included neither firm nor soft tofu, just good ol' bacon.
At the same meeting, Bernadette Pelissier, a member of the leadership council, said she would rather be a member of something else.
That is, she doesn't like the name of the group. Perhaps it's time to drop the word "leadership," she suggested, and replace it with "collaboration."
"I think it sounds way too elitist," she said. "Get rid of the word 'leadership,' which sounds like it's excluding a lot of people."
